Was able to keep the overcloack stable by increasing the vcore one notch...pretty sweet

Been doing a bit of overclocking to my PC since BF3 came out...trying to get some more performance outta my now 2 yr old rig.
My video card (HIS HD5850) doesn't seem to like it at all. When only running one monitor I can find a stable setting but the performance it gives doesn't warrant the heat it creates. So I leaving it on stock sadly.
My CPU (i5-750) however seems to do great. Lots of stuff to turn on and to turn off and alot of little baby steps, testing along the way, as you other OCers know, but I found a real nice stable 24/7 clock of 3.5 Ghz with on a 1.2 vcore leaving my temps looking great at 60C-65C peaks on full load. Idle is a bit high at 40C-44C but those temps shouldn't shorten the life of my CPU at all. I'm very happy. For reference my cooler is a AVC Closed Loop Liquid CPU Cooling System.
I'm adding 4GB of RAM tomorrow because BF3 sucks it down. Having 8GB of DDR3 running at 1600Mhz is gonna be nice.
Just was worried if because I am taking up 4 DIMMs soon that the draw on the MB will be more and I'll need to find fine tune my OC...
I will of course I'll install and test the new memory on stock clocks first...so we shall see how my OC BIOS setting does...or if I gotta fiddle again.
DD3 RAM is so dirt cheap right now, it's crazy. Just wanted to share.
Nice!! I tried doing some small OC, on BC2 a few months ago, but I would crash here and there. I just left it alone since right now it works pretty damn fine lol. I do need to OC my RAM tho since I bought the wrong one so my MB clocks it down to like 1066 when it could do 1600. Wanna buy my RAM Dumb? lol
As it turns out...BF3 really doesn't care what CPU you run...even a dual core.
Clock speeds don't matter either, at least not from what I can tell.
It's much more of a GPU dependent game unlike BFBC2.
So for now, I'm keeping stock clocks of 2.8 GHz because they is just no tangible difference in performance but it runs 8-10 degrees cooler at peak.

Nice that's good to hear! Do you know any good sites that show how to OC ram? I don't quite understand the voltage and such.
I have never OCed RAM...never really saw the point...
But a great site and community is at overclockers.com
First thing I do with new hardware is see how far I can take it. I have my 3ghz quad at 3.6ghz and my 763mhz 460s at 840mhz. It's just trial and error. Overclocking RAM really isnt worth it in my opinion.
Well the thing is, the stock speed on my ram is 1600Mhz, but i realized after I bought my mobo that it didn't support 1600, it was like 1066, 1333, 2000 OC. I guess I switched the MoBo and forgot to change ram xD, but yeah that's why I wanted to OC it to at least 1333 since my MOBO clocks it down to 1066.
