Launch of the game marks the start of $1,000,000 contest to pitch a perfect game

NEW YORK, Mar 02, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 2K Sports announced today that Major League Baseball(R) 2K10, the next iteration of the popular Major League Baseball(R) 2K series, is now available in retail stores nationwide. Marking the 10th anniversary of the franchise and featuring cover athlete and All-Star third baseman, Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays, Major League Baseball 2K10 will highlight the intense battle between pitchers and hitters like never before.

Additionally, popular baseball analyst John Kruk will join the team to provide more in-depth commentary, giving Major League Baseball 2K10 the first ever three-man broadcast booth in a baseball video game.

With the Major League Baseball season officially kicking off, retailer GameStop is celebrating with a ridiculously deep discount on 2K Sports' MLB 2K10 PC.

Normally $29.99, the 7.07GB download has been marked down to just $2.99--that's 90% off--under the guise of GameStop's "Daily Deal." The sale only applies to a digital download of the PC edition--all other versions (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP and PC Retail) have retained their respective pricing.

Each purchase includes three licenses, which, according to GameStop, "means you may install the game on other computers and activate it up to 3 times." Be forewarned that GameStop will automatically add a $3.95 "Download Insurance" charge to your cart alongside the game--meant to ensure that "a back up copy of these Digital Good(s) will be available to you for download for up to eighteen (18) months from the date of purchase"--though this can be removed. Oddly, it's not clear how long the download will be available if that insurance is not purchased.
