Launch of the game marks the start of $1,000,000 contest to pitch a perfect game
NEW YORK, Mar 02, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 2K Sports announced today that Major League Baseball(R) 2K10, the next iteration of the popular Major League Baseball(R) 2K series, is now available in retail stores nationwide. Marking the 10th anniversary of the franchise and featuring cover athlete and All-Star third baseman, Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays, Major League Baseball 2K10 will highlight the intense battle between pitchers and hitters like never before.
"We have supreme confidence in the vast improvement of Major League Baseball 2K10 this season," said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. "With the all-new My Player career mode and integration of MLB Today, along with our retooled pitching and hitting mechanics, we aren't holding anything back. We're also incredibly excited about rewarding one lucky fan with a million dollars for pitching a perfect game."
From the mound to the plate, Major League Baseball 2K10 will give fans the ability to paint the corners with Total Control Pitching, and to work the count with Total Control Hitting, featuring an all-new defensive swing mechanic to foul off pitches. With the integration of MLB Today, gamers will now be delivered real-time results, standings, news and stats to ensure timely commentary that reflects what's actually going on in Major League Baseball. Fans can also become a living legend with the all-new My Player career mode by creating a player, choosing a team and playing their way from a Double-A Minor League(TM) team into the Hall of Fame(R). Additionally, popular baseball analyst John Kruk will join the team to provide more in-depth commentary, giving Major League Baseball 2K10 the first ever three-man broadcast booth in a baseball video game.
2K Sports will also offer fans the thrilling opportunity this season to win an unprecedented cash prize in the amount of $1,000,000 for being the first person to throw a verified perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K10. In order to accomplish this rare feat, contestants will need to master all facets of this year's improved pitching and hitting controls, while documenting the action. Fans will be able to participate in the contest beginning on March 2, 2010 at 12:01 AM PST and ending on May 1, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT. This special contest, sponsored by 2K Sports, is available for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft through the Xbox LIVE(R) online entertainment network* and PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system through the PlayStation(R)Network*. Gamestop.com - Buy Major League Baseball 2K10 - PC
Gamestop is offering a killer deal for a limited time... only $3 for MLB 2K10.
With the Major League Baseball season officially kicking off, retailer GameStop is celebrating with a ridiculously deep discount on 2K Sports' MLB 2K10 PC.
Normally $29.99, the 7.07GB download has been marked down to just $2.99--that's 90% off--under the guise of GameStop's "Daily Deal." The sale only applies to a digital download of the PC edition--all other versions (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP and PC Retail) have retained their respective pricing.
Each purchase includes three licenses, which, according to GameStop, "means you may install the game on other computers and activate it up to 3 times." Be forewarned that GameStop will automatically add a $3.95 "Download Insurance" charge to your cart alongside the game--meant to ensure that "a back up copy of these Digital Good(s) will be available to you for download for up to eighteen (18) months from the date of purchase"--though this can be removed. Oddly, it's not clear how long the download will be available if that insurance is not purchased.
Just bought my copy![]()
